Industry collaboration prototype

UAV: HorizonTec

Scale aircraft prototype development using CAD, additive manufacturing, conventional machining, and composite materials.

Overview

During my senior year, I continued developing aircraft through an industry collaboration with HorizonTec. My team and I designed and manufactured a scale aircraft prototype, applying the aircraft design experience I had built through SAE Aero Design to a more industry-oriented development setting.

The work connected design intent with manufacturing realities. The prototype required attention to geometry, structural choices, fabrication methods, assembly, and test readiness.

Engineering Process

The team moved from design and fabrication planning into prototype manufacturing, balancing manufacturability, structural needs, and practical assembly constraints.

Outcome

The project deepened my experience with aircraft hardware development and gave me hands-on exposure to multiple fabrication workflows used in prototype aerospace systems.
